Why is it that if someone on TV says the word "bitch" or "shit" or something like that prior to 'prime time' they get fined...but the news stations can just throw up some pictures of some dead drug lords, their bodies riddled with bloody bullet holes?
I was watching CBS this evening at 6.30 for the evening world news. They told of "the war next door" and how Mexico is going through some huge fucking drug war right now and people are dying in the streets and so on and so forth. They didn't even preempt the coverage with a warning or disclaimer of "Some of the images you are about to see may be disturbing to some viewers". Nope...they just started flashing images of dead guys all over the place.
Now I've got a pretty strong stomach...it's not like the images made my stomach turn or anything. At the same time, I don't exactly enjoy seeing such images...especeially when I'm trying to eat my pizza. Did it make me feel ill? No. But it's no pasture full of daisies, either.
But this is what news is, isn't it? God-damned journalists going for the 'shocker' tactics and news that will grab your attention - no matter the cost. No wonder the public is becoming so desensitized.
What a fucking joke. That is all.
