New Roommate

I've discovered I have a new...and very much unwanted...roommate. Observe:

Now, being the uneducated guy that I am, when it comes to spiders, at least...I immediately begin wondering if this thing is poisonous. After all, it is black with orange-ish markings on its back. Sure, it's no hourglass, but what if it's a baby (as it seems small at only 1/2" long. Maybe the proper marking won't show up just yet?

So I just spent 15 minutes online to put my mind at ease. I love the internet! What you see is the common Bold Jumping Spider Apparently it's relatively harmless. Their fangs can pierce human flesh...and they are typically quite aggressive...and can cover large amounts of space in a single leap...but apparently, although painful, their venom is not dangerous to humans. Lucky me.
